Pointers on doing event shows in Bangkok

Bangkok - The Heart of Asia, increasingly attracting more attention from the world as regional exhibition hub of Asia. Some of the shows like Metal Asia and Textile Asia have attracted worldwide audience. 

Below are some tips when you are exhibiting in Bangkok:

1. Book a hotel near the show ground or near BTR (the light rail train) - Bangkok's traffic jam is notoriously famous. Taking a taxi from your hotel to the show ground may test your patience for at least an hour or more. Even though accommodation costs may increase, it would be more cost and time efficient to reside at a hotel nearer to event ground. 
2. Send your exhibits early. The custom department in Bangkok is one of the strictest in Asia, so send your exhibits early in order to avoid late arrival. It is advisable that you have a local consignee in Bangkok.  
3. Get a realizable stand builder. As prices can vary significantly between one stand builder to another, selecting the cheapest vendor may cause you heartache and endless embarrassment. So look for credible vendor with proven track records. Cost of Build-up stands in Bangkok is one of the lowest in Asia. 
4. Have your literatures and posters translated to local Thai language as well if you’re are targeting at the locals - e.g; the agricultural exhibitions. 
5. Have a translator at your booth. Many locals speak English, but the fluency of the English language is none comparable with Singapore or Hong Kong, so do standby a translator at your booth as it really doesn't cost you much! 
6. Avoid late night entertainment during show days. Bangkok may have the liveliest nightlife in Asia. You may be invited to party after party during show day. Even though it is good to let your hair down at the end of the day, but bear in mind you will have another long day to go at the booth the next day. (Normal exhibition time is 10am to 530 pm daily) So, leave all the fun part to the last day of the show! 
7. If you are inviting any local customers to visit your booth, make sure you give them a call 3 days in advance, even though you have mailed them an invitation letter. Thais are very friendly and warm, but nothing beats a personal call!
